Dr. Greg Hill is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with extensive experience successfully treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. His area of interest are Sports Medicine, as well as Shoulder and Knee Replacement Surgery. Dr. Hill comes to Fort Dodge from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where over the past 15 years, he has developed a reputation for compassionate care with consistently good outcomes. He has successfully returned high level athletes to competition, patients back to work their desired activities, and a farmer back to the field.
Dr. Hill has treated Iowans for over 20 years. He is understanding of their concerns and needs. He enjoys educating his patients on their condition, their treatment options, and their expected length of recovery. Dr. Hill’s experience with the latest advancements in treatments and surgical techniques allow patients in the Fort Dodge region to be confident that they are receiving the highest quality of orthopedic care while staying local. Whether it is a sports injury, a rotator cuff tear, a knee ligament injury, or joint arthritis, Dr. Hill has a proven history of successful results.
Advanced treatments and techniques that Dr. Hill offers include: minimally invasive knee replacement without cutting the quadriceps tendon (quad sporing) to provide a less painful surgery with quicker recovery; customized 3D printed shoulder replacement (components specifically made for each patient); robotic knee replacement (highly accurate, cuts less bone, safer); articular cartilage defect grafting (joint preservation); and plasma- stem cell (biological) treatments.
Dr. Hill was raised in a small Iowa farm town and became an Eagle Scout. He played football and wrestled at Coe College until sidelined by an injury. He transferred to the University of Iowa where he earned his degree in Biomedical Engineering, and then his Medical Degree. His orthopaedic residency was completed at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center.
Dr. Hill married an Iowa native and they returned to Iowa, after his residency, to raise their family. His solo practice in Burlington, Iowa continually grew for five years until their children’s specific school needs prompted them to move to Cedar Rapids. Dr. Hill is an avid outdoors adventurer. He has backpacked remotely around the world (southern Patagonia, Iceland Highlands, Swiss Alps, Alaska). He recently began mountaineering and ice climbing. He has summitted Mount Rainer as well as Yanapaccha (18,000 feet) in the Northern Andes of Peru.
Dr. Hill enjoys teaching youth, whether at a high school career day or while serving as a scouting venture crew first aid instructor. Most of all, he enjoys time with his wife and children; traveling with them and learning about many different places.
